To demonize Israel or relativize the Palestinian terrorism, it is usually argued that “the Jewish also committed terrorism” like in the King David Hotel (July/22/1946). The attempt in the King David Hotel, headquarters to the Military Command of the British Mandate of Palestine and to the Criminal Investigation of the Division of the British, was committed by the Irgun Tzvai Leumi (Etzel). The operation was against a military compound working at a hotel, transforming it into a military target 100% legal. From the technical point of view, the operation should be qualified as a guerrilla” attack because it was a military target. In the south wing of the hotel, there were stolen documents by the British that incriminated the Jewish Agency (Operation Agatha). To blow it up, a man from the Irgun-Etzel entered the hotel dressed up with an employer’s tunic, placing explosives in bottles of milk in the basement. A member of the Irgun (Gideon) yelled to the crowd: “Get out, the hotel is about to blow up”. An operator called a warning to evacuate the entire building to avoid civil victims. The same person called the office of the Jerusalem Post and one last warning to the French Consulate nearby that was evacuated. The British authorities of the Military Command ignored the warnings by answering: “We are not here to receive orders from Jews. We are the ones who give orders around here”. The attack caused the death of 92 people, 16 of them were Jews. The south wing of the Kid David Hotel was destroyed. The Irgun was accused of terrorism by the British and by the official Zionist leadership that had approved the attack. Even though the results provoked the death of innocent civilians it does not mean that it was a terrorist action since there is no intention nor was it the modus operandi accepted by the Irgun.
