The only truth is Islam and it is the one that is expressed by Muslims (that is how a radical thinks). Pagans face the Muslims, those who do not believe in one God alone. These people cannot live together with Islam. The murder of pagans in hands of radical Muslims has been seen in Darfur, in Nigeria, or more recently in Syria when ISIS murdered hundreds of Yazidi for being a pre-Islamic religion they accuse of “praising the demon”. Jews and Christians believe in one God alone, but they do not believe in Allah and Mohammed as his prophet. For traditional Islam, Jews of Christians, and sometimes other monotheists such as the Zoroastrians, are Dhimmis, the property of the Caliphs, and live under his protection. Typically, the “people of the Dhimmah” are exempt of the military service and the religious tax, called Zakat, but in its place, they must pay a per capita tax, called Yizia, and a tax on the land, Haray, apart from obeying the authority of the Caliph or the Sultan. Also, they have the right to practice their faith (although with severe limitations), they cannot reconstruct or build new churches or synagogues in Dar Al-Islam, they cannot sound the shofar or church bells, they cannot ride on donkeys or horses or use swords, as these humiliate Muslims, they must use identification signs on their clothes, and although they can use their own judges for civil issues, such as matrimonies, divorces and successions, if the Caliph considers it appropriate, the son of the Dhimmi can be educated in the Islam. The laws of the Dhimmah were imposed as a measure to convert Jews and Christians to Islam, but not by force. Now, a radical would say: how do these Dhimmis of Israel dare to impose a Jewish state in Dar-El-Islam?
