The Arab or pro-Palestinian narrative usually conveys two arguments: the Palestinians “paid the price” for the European Holocaust, and Israel enjoys impunity because of this genocide. It is important to keep in mind that Palestinians were not oblivious to the Holocaust. The Palestinian leadership, led by Hajj Amin Al-Husseini, was an active ally of the Nazis, fostering Jewish murders: from the request to build gas chambers in Emek Dotan to the attempt to contaminate the waters of Tel Aviv. In order to assess if there is indulgence towards Israel, we would have to compare the treatment given to Israel with that of other actors, both in international politics as in the media. In the United Nations, there is a very clear accusatory bias and non-indulgent attitude towards Israel. Some entities, such as the UN Human Rights Council should be a cause for shame to all the decent people of the world.
Regarding the media, when comparing the coverage of the Israeli operations in Gaza with the coverage of over half a million deaths and millions of refugees in Syria, the ethnic killings in Darfur or the totally null diffusion of the homosexual persecutions, women or Christians in the same countries that wish to destroy Israel, we can reject this alleged “indulgence”. There are media that have acquired nefarious prestige for demonizing Israel. The vast majority of the Spanish media are a clear example of the obsessive bias against Israel. In truth, the question should be another one: the obsession shown by most countries on the UN towards Israel, or by the world’s media… isn’t it a demonstration that the lessons from the Holocaust have not been assimilated as should be expected?
